The Grand Rapids Griffins hosted the team’s 2018-19 home opener Friday night at Van Andel Arena, and it was a good night for the hosts, as Grand Rapids recorded a 6-3 win over the Hershey Bears. Filip Zadina scored his first professional goal (and his second), while tallies from Matt Puempel, Carter Camper and Dominic Turgeon all helped secure Ben Simon secure his first win as Griffins head coach. It was also the home debut of two new Michigan natives on the Griffins roster in Trevor Hamilton and Jake Chelios. (Photos by Stefan Kubus/MiHockey)
