The Red Wings are adding some depth on the blue line during the first day of free agency.
Detroit has signed defenseman Patrik Nemeth to a two-year deal.
A 27-year-old native of Stockholm, Sweden, Nemeth was a second-round pick of the Dallas Stars in 2010.
In 2017-18, he joined the Colorado Avalanche, and spent the last two seasons there.
Nemeth has played in a total of 250 NHL games over six seasons, recording four goals and 35 assists in the timeframe. In 2016-17, he was +27; last year, he was +5.
Anthony Mantha broke his hand when a punch landed on Nemeth’s helmet in a fight last December (as seen above).
