Tom McCollum is coming back to the Red Wings’ organization.
The Wings have made a trade with the Flames to re-acquire their former first-round draft pick, first reported by Darren Dreger and confirmed by the Wings shortly after.
The trade sends a conditional seventh-round pick to Calgary in exchange for the goaltender.

A first-round pick of the Wings in 2008, McCollum was a fixture in Grand Rapids for seven seasons.
McCollum joined the Flames’ organization after the conclusion of the 2015-16 season; he did not dress for a Calgary NHL game last season. He played 17 games with the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers after being acquired by loan.
