The Red Wings have locked up one of the players originally slated to be heading to salary arbitration.
Detroit announced today that they have signed goaltender Jared Coreau to a two-year contract extension.
The contract agreement avoids salary arbitration for the Wings and the young goaltender, who had originally filed for that negotiation strategy this off-season.
Coreau, 24, just concluded his third professional season after three years with Northern Michigan. The native of Perth, Ontario, played in 47 games with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins, posting a 29-15-2 record with a 2.43 goals-against average and .922 save percentage.
