The Red Wings announced today that they have signed Lake Superior State forward Colin Campbell to an entry-level contract.
Campbell, 22, just finished his senior season with the Lakers, scoring 29 points in 36 games – good for second on the LSSU roster.
A native of Pickering, Ontario, Campbell played in only nine games during his junior season due to an injury. Before that, he ranked third on the team in scoring as a sophomore, recording 25 points in 37 games.
Campbell, who checks in at 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, played for the Vaughn Vipers of the Ontario Junior A Hockey League before his collegiate career.
This is the second Lakers star to sign with an NHL club – Kevin Czuczman will be forgoing his senior season after signing a two-year, entry-level contract with the New York Islanders.
