The men’s hockey tournament at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia officially kicked off today.
Latvia and Switzerland competed in the first game of group play, with Sweden and the Czech Republic following them on the first day of Olympic competition for NHL players.
Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg scored for Team Sweden, helping his native country to a 4-2 win over the Czechs. Meanwhile, the Swiss avoided an upset, pulling out a 1-0 win over Latvia.
