The Red Wings have sent forward Gustav Nyquist and goaltender Petr Mrazek to Grand Rapids today, along with other roster moves to comply with NHL rules before the start of the season.

Detroit recalled goaltender Jared Coreau and defenseman Xavier Ouellet from their AHL affiliate, and placed both Darren Helm and Patrick Eaves on the long-term injured reserve list.

With the moves, the Red Wings are now under the cap both in terms of players and money. Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press breaks down the Red Wings’ money situation, which can be found here.

The Red Wings’ roster also has Jordin Tootoo and Jonas Gustavsson listed as being on the seven-day injured reserve list.

Yesterday, the Red Wings trimmed the roster to 27, after assigning players to Grand Rapids and placing three players – Willie Coetzee, Landon Ferraro and Nick Jensen – on injured reserve. You can see those transactions here.

Cory Emmerton, placed on waivers yesterday, cleared and will remain with the organization.
