PHOTOS: First day of 2019 Detroit Red Wings Development Camp

The Red Wings held Day 1 of the team’s annual development camp Tuesday, welcoming drafted players and select free-agent invites to Little Caesars Arena for a week of on and off-ice training, education and guidance. Check out photos from the first skates for both Team Howe and Team Lindsay, which first featured skating testing and then an hour of shooting.

Notable participants for the first day included the majority of the Red Wings’ 2019 NHL Draft class and last year’s first-round pick Joe Veleno. Notable absences included Filip Zadina, out with a hamstring strain from training in Detroit, Taro Hirose and Alec Regula, while notable free-agent attendees included Michigan natives and goaltenders Drew DeRidder (Fenton/Michigan State) and Robbie Beydoun (Plymouth/Michigan Tech). Stay tuned for features on both of those netminders, and click here to see video of first-round pick Moritz Seider and Veleno talking to the media.
