Filip Zadina has signed his ELC.
Today, the Red Wings announced that they have signed their No. 6 overall pick from the 2018 NHL Draft to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Zadina just concluded his first development camp with the Wings, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime at the team’s week-concluding Red & White Scrimmage.
Widely regarded as an expected top-three or top-four pick in this year’s NHL Draft in Dallas, Detroit was the beneficiary of other teams deciding to pass on the Czech Republic-born sniper.
“Yeah, I’m telling my agent if they will pass on me, I will fill their net with the puck,” Zadina said at the draft about falling to No. 6 – displaying his on-ice confidence off of it. “Yeah, it’s just I want to prove [to] them that they have done, like, bad decision. But I’m so glad that I am in Detroit right now, so I just want to prove to Detroit that they have got a pretty good decision.”
In his lone season of North American hockey, Zadina posted 82 points in 57 games with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL.
Just wanna say HUGE thanks to my family, agents and Especially to my teammates I would not be here in Detroit organizations without you ! Thanks a lot ! It’s a honour for me to get this opportunity ! I am so excited about upcoming season ! Thank you Detroit!! @DetroitRedWings pic.twitter.com/JRnTkE1y4P
