Recruiting: Brendan Hill commits to Lake Superior State

By @MichaelCaples –

Someday, Brendan Hill will have to leave the friendly confines of USA Hockey Arena.

He knows which rink he’s heading to, however – Taffy Abel, to be exact.

Hill, a Detroit Catholic Central defenseman, has verbally committed to Lake Superior State.

“I chose LSSU because it’s a beautiful community with a great hockey town atmosphere,” he told MiHockey. “Being it’s a smaller campus, I know I’ll get the most out of my education and do what I love best – play hockey. I also found myself very impressed with the great coaching staff, spectacular rink and history behind LSSU.”

Prior to joining the Shamrocks hockey program, the 2001 birth-year Hill spent much of his youth hockey career with Compuware, playing for the AAA program’s bantam minor, bantam major and 15U squads in their respective seasons.

The blueliner recorded 17 points in 29 games for DCC last season.

“I am beyond excited to play college hockey,” Hill said. “Playing at the collegiate level has always been a goal of mine.  I’m really looking forward to playing for the thousands of hockey fans who love the game as much as I do. Plus, you’ve got to love the atmosphere of the student section during a college hockey game.”
