Last night, Ovi got his Cup.
With a 4-3 win over the Las Vegas Golden Knights, Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals secured the first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history – ending the “one of the best to win a title” storyline surrounding the greatest goal scorer of his generation.
As is tradition, we post a story about the Stanley Cup champions pointing out all of the Michigan names involved. It’s kind of our thing, you know.
There won’t be many Michigan names being engraved on Lord Stanley’s Cup this go-round. No homegrown products were on the roster for the Caps’ 2018 postseason run, but there were a few who called Michigan home during different periods of time.
Congrats to these guys, and the rest of the Capitals, on winning hockey’s ultimate prize last night.
