Nathan Gerbe has found a path back to the NHL.
The Columbus Blue Jackets announced Wednesday they signed the veteran forward and Oxford native to a one-year, two-way deal for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.
Gerbe, a 30-year-old former fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres (2005), had been playing in Switzerland this season and last with Genève-Servette HC. Last season, he posted 28 points in 26 games and had accumulated seven points in 19 games this year before signing with Columbus.
An alumnus of USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program, Gerbe has recorded 58 goals and 138 points in 394 career NHL games with the Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes.
