The Michigan Wolverines forced overtime with a late goal from Alex Guptill (his second of the night) in the third period Friday night against the Buckeyes, only to watch one of their top rivals win in the ensuing shootout.
Ohio State’s Alex Szczechura scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Buckeyes an extra point in the standings. For the time being, Michigan remains in the third place in the Big Ten with 23 points, and Ohio State in fourth with 20. The two teams meet again this Sunday, playing in a 1 p.m. game at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
