Kurt Gosselin had a massive weekend for his Alabama Huntsville hockey program.
The Brighton native has been named the NCAA’s first star of the week because of a six-point weekend in his team’s sweep of Alaska Anchorage.
A senior defenseman and one of the captains of the Chargers, Gosselin registered one goal and two assists in a 6-2 win on Friday, then added two goals and an assist in a 6-3 win on Saturday.
He posted a combined +5 rating on a weekend that saw him rapidly increase his season points total – Gosselin now has 11 points on the year.
He’s seven points off his NCAA career mark of 18 – set in 2016-17 – despite having only appeared in 13 games this season.
Gosselin played for the Detroit Falcons of the NAPHL before making the jump to juniors; the Brighton native spent three seasons with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs before joining UAH.
