He sure knows how to get ready for the World Junior A Challenge.
White Lake native Ronnie Attard will be heading to Bonnyville, Alberta this week to compete for Team USA at the prestigious international tournament, and in his last weekend with his USHL franchise, he performed well enough to be named the junior league’s defenseman of the week.
Attard, a Western Michigan commit, recorded three goals and one assist in two games last week, along with a +4 rating.
He scored one goal and recorded an assist in his Tri-City Storm’s 7-3 win over Sioux Falls on Friday before registering two more goals – including the game-winner – the next afternoon in a 3-2 win over Cedar Rapids.
Attard has earned points in six of his last eight contests.
He was one of eight Michigan names selected to compete for USA Hockey at the World Junior A Challenge, which is essentially a USHL all-star team each winter.
Attard has played in 110 career games with the Storm, recording 33 total points. He played for Victory Honda and Honeybaked before moving onto the junior ranks.
