The Firebirds are finally in the win column.
In a day game against the Sarnia Sting, Flint finally recorded its first victory of the 2018-19 OHL season, as the Firebirds posted a 7-4 win.
Jake Durham played a substantial role in the victory; the Firebirds’ assistant captain registered a hat trick in the win.
Flint is now 1-16-1 in the start of a rough season. The team went through a coaching change already, as former assistant coach Eric Wellwood stepped in as the replacement for Ryan Oulahen, who stepped down for personal reasons on Oct. 12.
The lone Michigan native on Sarnia did what he could to make things difficult on the Firebirds; Grosse Pointe native Mitch Eliot scored the game’s first two goals.
