Austen May’s going to be heading to Rhode Island soon.
The Oakland Jr. Grizzlies 16U defenseman and Woodhaven native has verbally committed to Providence College, locking in a spot with the Hockey East member.
“I picked Providence because their campus is beautiful, all their facilities were amazing – some of the best – and their rink was amazing,” May said, “The coaches are amazing, as well. I’m very excited to play college hockey for Providence because it has been a dream to play college hockey since I started playing.”
May, a 2003 birth-year skater, played for Belle Tire in bantam minor before skating with Compuware last season. With the Compuware 14U team, he won a HPHL league championship, a MAHA state title and USA Hockey national championship.
