The MiHockey team was saddened to learn today of the passing of Cam Ashley.
The Saginaw native was 22.
Ashley’s hockey career took him across the country, as evidenced by the outpouring of support and condolences shared across social media in his honor.
He played with the Cleveland Barons youth 14U and 16U teams before embarking on a junior career that saw him skate with the Tri-City IceHawks of the MNJHL and then USPHL, the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the NAHL, the Fargo Force of the USHL and the Grand Forks Border Bruins of the KIJHL.
Ashley was also a draft pick of the Sarnia Sting in 2012.
UPDATE: A GoFundMe page has been established to help the Ashley family in their time of need. More info can be found here, or by clicking on the embedded graphic below.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and his hockey family.

Saddened to hear about the passing of former Fargo Force player Cam Ashley. 22-years-old is way too young. Seems like just yesterday I was watching him play for one the most talented U16 teams I’ve seen (2011-12 Cleveland Barons). Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.

Broke my heart receiving the news tonight on Cam Ashley passing away today. The times I’ve been with you, playing hockey or hanging out with you and your brother, you were always in the brightest moods and never failed to make everyone laugh. Rest easy man, you will be missed.
