A pair of Muskegon Lumberjacks received major USHL recognition Monday morning.
Captain Anthony Del Gaizo has been named the league’s player of the year, while Matej Pekar – an Oakland Jr. Grizzlies alum – has been named top rookie.
Del Gaizo, a UMass (Amherst) commit, posted a league-best 72 points in 60 games this season – his third with the ‘Jacks.
Pekar, a native of the Czech Republic who moved to Michigan for two years of youth hockey before joining Muskegon this season, recorded 54 points in 56 games.
