PLYMOUTH – USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program hasn’t been in Plymouth long enough to have a long list of memorable moments at their new home.
This one will be added to that list, however, and it will be near the top for a long time to come.
On Friday night, the NTDP Under-18 Team took on Russia in the marquee game of the Under-18 Five Nations Tournament at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth.
And the U.S. fell behind, quickly. And stayed behind, frustratingly.
Until a wild third period, that is – a period in which the NTDP scored four goals to pull off a wild 5-4 victory over one of their main international rivals in front of 2,000-plus fans and scouts.
K’Andre Miller, Jack Hughes, Joel Farabee, Oliver Wahlstrom and Tyler Weiss scored for the NTDP in the thriller in Plymouth, while Drew DeRidder made 15 saves in the win.
The victory sets up a tournament-deciding game between the U.S. and Finland Saturday night in Plymouth at 7 p.m. Get ticket info here.
