Wade Allison and the Broncos had a big weekend in Kalamazoo, knocking off No. 1 Denver in consecutive nights.
Allison, a sophomore forward, recorded a goal and an assist in a last-minute 6-5 win over the Pioneers on Friday.
To top that, he posted a hat trick in a 7-4 win on Saturday that saw the Broncos score five unanswered in the third period.
Allison is tied for fourth in NCAA scoring with 14 points in nine games, four points behind the nation’s leader – Jake Evans of Notre Dame.
The wins lifted previously-unranked Western Michigan to a No. 18 ranking and 5-3-1 record overall.
