PHOTOS: Spartans give Danton Cole first win in home opener

The Spartans recorded their first win – and first for new coach Danton Cole – Saturday night in East Lansing, as Michigan State topped Bowling Green 3-2. Taro Hirose brook a 2-2 tie with 40 seconds remaining in regulation to give MSU a win in the program’s 2017-18 home opener, while Tommy Apap and Patrick Khodorenko scored the other goals for the Spartans. John Lethemon made 22 saves in goal for the team’s first victory of the season; Michigan natives Brandon Kruse and Shane Bednard were the two Falcons to find the back of the net.
