The Spartans have lost a top player.
Michigan State announced today that Mason Appleton has signed with the Winnipeg Jets, the club that drafted him in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Draft.
Appleton, a native of Green Bay, Wisc., was slated to be the Spartans’ captain for the 2017-18 season.
