Gaylord native Casey Gilling is going to be a RedHawk.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks forward announced today that he has verbally committed to the Miami hockey program.
“[Miami] is a really good fit for me,” Gilling told MiHockey. “They have an excellent coaching staff and their facilities are top of the line. The campus gave me a really home-like feeling, and the school is one of the best in the country.”
Gilling, a ’98 birth-year skater, played for the Soo Indians 18U AAA program before joining the Omaha Lancers AAA program for the 2014-15 season.
During the 2015-16 season, Gilling suited up for the Minnesota Wilderness of the NAHL.
This year, he’s playing much closer to home, having logged 56 games with his home state’s USHL franchise in Muskegon. Gilling has posted 31 points so far this season.
Gilling said he can’t wait to begin the next chapter in his hockey career.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to play on and against the best teams in nation.”
