The 2017 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament field has been announced, and two Michigan teams will be competing.
Western Michigan’s regular-season success locked up a spot for the Broncos, after WMU posted a 22-12-5 overall record and a 13-9-2 record in NCHC conference play.
The Broncos will take on Air Force Friday night at 7:30 in Providence, Rhode Island, as part of the East Regional.
The winner of that game will play the winner of Harvard vs. Providence to earn a spot in the Frozen Four.
Michigan Tech, meanwhile, locked up a spot in the national tournament after winning the WCHA playoff title (read about that here).
They are playing in Cincinnati, taking on No. 1 seed Denver on Saturday at 1 p.m. as part of the Midwest Regional.
The winner of the Tech vs. Denver will play the winner of the Penn State vs. Union game for a spot in the Frozen Four.
This year’s Frozen Four takes place in Chicago April 6-8.
