It’s “Trade Deadline Day” for NHL franchises today, but that didn’t stop the Edmonton Oilers from making a different kind of acquisition.
The club announced today that they have signed Clarkston native Ryan Mantha to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Mantha, a defenseman, is in the midst of his third season with the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL. He has 51 points in 58 games, along with 56 penalty minutes.
He was originally a fourth-round pick of the New York Rangers in the 2014 NHL Draft.
