The Michigan Amateur Hockey Association is encouraging 6-and Under and 8-and-Under teams to participate in the annual Mite (8U) Jamboree events across the state.

Teams participating in a Mite Jamboree event are guaranteed a minimum of four 30-minute game sessions. Teams can participate in beginner (6U – cross-ice) and advanced (8U – half-ice) divisions. The advanced division is normally broken into three skill levels – gold, silver and bronze.

“The Mite Jamborees are designed to bring together hockey players from across the state for a fun tournament atmosphere and a bonding experience for our 8U players,” said MAHA president George Atkinson. “We hope all our mite teams will check their schedules and find a way to participate in one of the tournaments – it’s a great time for everyone involved.”

Each Mite Jamboree carries only a cost of $20 for each participant, and all players receive a participation medal at the end of the Jamboree. All games feature USA Hockey-sanctioned officials.

Dates for this year’s Mite Jamborees:

  • Dec. 10, 2016 – Polar Palace (Lapeer)
  • Jan. 28, 2017 – Suburban Ice East Lansing
  • *Feb. 18-19, 2017 – Centre Ice Arena (Traverse City)

*Two-day event; divisions reset by ability based off the first day’s results for the second day.
