A sweep of a top-ranked opponent will get the attention of your conference, that’s for sure.
After Western Michigan beat No. 1 Nebraska-Omaha this past weekend, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference has given two Broncos weekly awards.
Aaron Hadley was named the NCHC Offensive Player of the Week after recording four points in two games. The junior from Castlegar, BC, scored his first NCAA goal in Friday’s win, increasing WMU’s lead to 4-2 early in the third period. He followed that up with a three-point night on Saturday, picking up three assists in a 6-1 win.
Meanwhile, Colt Conrad was named NCHC Rookie of the Week after recording four points of his own. The 18-year-old forward set up the goal discussed above on Friday, then on Saturday, Conrad scored the game-winner – his first collegiate goal – and added two assists.
