The Muskegon Lumberjacks announced today that defenseman Trevor Hamilton has committed to Penn State.
Hamilton, a Grosse Pointe Farms native, will join the Nittany Lions at the conclusion of his USHL career.
“The hockey facilities (at Penn State) are top-notch, and Pegula Ice Arena is one of the best rinks in all of college hockey. The campus is beautiful with a nice mix of older and newer buildings and is not overwhelmingly big for the students,” said Hamilton. “The coaching staff are great people overall that are open, honest, upfront, and great communicators that run the program like a National Hockey League organization.”
The Honeybaked and U.S. National Team Development Program alum spent two years of his college eligibility with the Miami RedHawks of the NCHC, playing in 31 games and recording five assists before leaving to return to the USHL.
Hamilton has appeared in 23 games with the Lumberjacks this year, totaling six goals and 11 assists, along with a plus-four rating during the time-frame. The Lumberjacks acquired his rights from the Fargo Force in mid-November.
Hamilton has participated in multiple Detroit Red Wings prospects camps, despite being an undrafted free agent.
