His return to North American hockey has went pretty well so far, according to the news released this morning.
The ECHL announced today that Livonia native Jeff Lerg is their goaltender of the month for November.
Lerg, who spent the last three seasons playing in Italy and France, recorded a 7-0-1 record with the Toledo Walleye over the past month. In those eight appearances, Lerg posted a 2.65 goals-against average and .922 save percentage. He made at least 25 saves in seven of the eight outings.
The former Michigan State goaltender is 8-1-1 on the season with the Walleye, with one shutout, a 2.52 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.
Lerg was named USA Hockey Junior Player of the Year in 2004-05 after leading the USHL with a 2.16 goals-against average in 52 games. He led Michigan State to a national title in 2007.
