The Michigan State Spartans recorded a weekend split with nationally-ranked Ferris State this weekend, and a lot of that success came from the play of goaltender Jake Hildebrand.
The Spartans’ netminder was recognized for his weekend performances by the Big Ten today; the conference has named him the Big Ten’s first star of the week.
Hildebrand, a native of Buter, Pa., posted a 1.01 goals-against average over the weekend. He stopped 35 of 37 shots in the two outings for a .946 save percentage.
The MSU goaltender has held opponents to two goals or fewer in his last four games – all against ranked opponents.
It’s the fifth time Hildebrand cracked the weekly award list, and first time since Feb. 18.
