Welcome to MiHockey’s new feature ‘The Shift’ – hockey questions for hockey players. In each ‘The Shift’ feature, we take you through the mindset of today’s hockey player through a question-and-answer session, profiling players from the NHL all the way down to youth travel hockey.

Our next featured player is University of Michigan sophomore forward Tyler Motte. The St. Clair native, a product of the Port Huron Flags, Little Caesars and Honeybaked programs, played for the U.S. National Team Development Program before heading down the street to Yost Ice Arena. A draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, Motte posted nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in 34 games as a freshman. Expect him to play a big role on the U.S. World Juniors team this winter, as well.
