The North American Hockey League announced today that they are introducing a new Girls Tournament Series (GTS) to go along with their Bantam Tournament Series (BTS) for the 2014-15 season.
The GTS will bring four teams from across North America at the 19U, 16U and 14U age groups together to compete in a tournament operated by professional NAHL staff.
The BTS already brings together Tier I 14U teams from across North America to compete in cooperation with select North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) and North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) events.
“Over the course of the past two seasons, we have received some great feedback regarding our BTS events from teams, players and parents, so we felt it necessary to continue to enhance the exposure opportunities for the 14U level,” said NAHL Commissioner Mark Frankenfeld in a release. “Now with the addition of the GTS, we have taken the next step to provide an additional opportunity for girls teams, while opening up an entirely new base of scouting and exposure to those players as well. It is our mission and belief that the GTS will prove to be a very important part of the evolution of the college-bound player.”
The inaugural GTS event will take place at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota, from Dec. 5-7, 2014.
The tournament will offer:
- Exposure to NCAA and junior scouts.
- Events coordinated and operated by the experienced and professional staff of the NAHL.
- Four-game guarantee for each event.
- Real-time statistics and game tracking provided by Pointstreak.
- Live online video broadcast of every game by FASTHockey, official broadcast provider to the NAHL.
- All events will be sanctioned by USA Hockey.
