The United States Hockey League announced their 2013-14 league First and Second Teams today, and two Michigan natives made the top list.

Shelby Township native Kyle Connor and Brownstown native Matt Iacopelli were the two Michigan products featured in the selections, and both had outstanding seasons.

Connor, who played for the Youngstown Phantoms, was second in league scoring, recording 74 points (31 goals and 43 assists) to set a franchise record. He led the league in power-play points, as well, racking up 30 with the man-advantage. He’s committed to the Michigan Wolverines following his junior career.

Iacopelli, who skated with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, is celebrating his 20th birthday. He led the USHL with 41 goals this year, the third highest total in the Tier I era. He’s going on to play for Western Michigan when he’s done with his USHL stay.
