The Madison Capitols, new members of the USHL, announced today that they have tendered a Michigan product.
The newly-formed club have signed Belle Tire’s Jalen Chatfield – the Capitols’ first-ever tendered defenseman in their short history.
Chatfield, who played for the Belle Tire Midget Major club this pat season, joins forwards Ryan Lohin (Chadds Ford, Pa.) and Sebastian Fuchs (Lidingo, Sweden) as the inaugural members of the 2014-15 squad.
“Jalen is an elite skating defenseman with good puck skills,” said Capitols head coach Steve Miller in a release. “His ability to skate, combined with his puck skills and high hockey IQ allows him to provide offense from the back end. He sees the ice extremely well and makes good puck decisions.”
“Defensively, he uses his good speed and mobility to shut down an attack quickly, taking away an opponent’s time and space.”
Chatfield, a native of Ypsilanti, recorded 11 goals and 15 assists with the Belle Tire U18s last season.
