Lumberjacks acquire Rochester native Wolanin in trade with Green Bay

The Muskegon Lumberjacks announced today that they have made a trade to bring a Michigan native back home.

The USHL club acquired Rochester native Christian Wolanin from the Green Bay Gamblers today in a trade that sends Connor Hurley across Lake Michigan.

In the deal, the Lumberjacks also acquired Green Bay’s affiliate defenseman Joseph Cecconi, a USHL Draft Phase Two first-round draft pick, and a Phase One third-round draft pick. Meanwhile, the club sends a Phase One forth-round pick to Green Bay.

Wolanin, a Little Caesars product, is in his second season of USHL play. Last year with the Gamblers, he recorded 14 points in 81 games. He was a second-round pick of Green Bay (3oth overall) in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft.

Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks say goodbye to Hurley, who was one of their top players before the trade. He was a second-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres last year.
