The United States Hockey League announced their players of the week today, and Brownstown native Matt Iacopelli’s name popped up.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks forward was named the league’s CCM Co-Forward of the Week, sharing the award with Brandon Hawkins of the Sioux City Musketeers.
Iacopelli, a Western Michigan commit, recorded four goals in three games this past weekend.
It feels great to receive the honor, Iacopelli said in a statement from the Lumberjacks. “I just continue to play my game trying to get better every time I take the ice. What has helped me out the most is staying focused while doing whatever I can to help the team win in the end.”
Iacopelli scored in both the Lumberjacks’ home games this weekend against the Sioux Falls Stampede, then added a pair of goals against the U.S. NTDP Under-18 team squad.
The Belle Tire product leads the Lumberjacks with six goals in five games.
