The USHL announced today that Muskegon Lumberjacks goaltender Kevin Lindskoug has been named the 2012-13 goaltender of the year for the junior league.

Lindskoug, a native of Trelleborg, Sweden, was selected in a vote conducted by USHL coaches and general managers.

The 20-year-old goaltender played in 47 contests this year, and recorded a 23-18-6 record throughout. He posted a 2.49 goals-against average, a .923 save percentage, and a USHL Tier 1 era (2002-present) record of eight shutouts.

Lindskoug will return to Sweden to play professionally next season.

“Kevin’s arrival in Muskegon from Sweden transformed a young Lumberjacks team into a contender this season,” said USHL President and Commissioner Skip Prince in a press release.  “His pedigree, from a country that has produced outstanding goaltenders for the last twenty years, was certainly on display all season.  To hold a USHL team scoreless eight times, with this League’s fast-paced play and talented goal scorers, was as impressive a performance as any single player turned in all year.  We’ll continue to be fans, and wish Kevin the best as he launches his professional career back home.”
