Less than a week after leading Yale to the national championship, Bloomfield Hills native Andrew Miller has a new team.

The senior captain of the Bulldogs, who was named the most outstanding player of the NCAA Tournament, signed with the Edmonton Oilers today.

Miller was Michigan’s high school “Mr. Hockey” award recipient in 2007 after leading Cranbrook to back-to-back state titles. After high school, he was named the Junior Player of the Year after excelling with the Chicago Steel of the USHL. At Yale, Miller continued to impress, and he graduates as the Bulldogs’ all-time leader in assists, and as the captain who led them to their first national title in school history.

Here is the press release from the Oilers:

General Manager Craig MacTavish announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with Yale Bulldogs right winger Andrew Miller on a one-year entry level contract.

Miller, 24, has played four seasons in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, accumulating 156 points (42G, 114A) in 141 games. His 114 assists ranks him as Yale’s all-time assists leader and he sits fifth in Bulldogs all-time points.

The Bloomfield, Michigan native is one of only five Yale players to be named a two-time, First-Team All-ECAC (2010-11, 2012-13) selection.

In 2012-13, the Yale Bulldogs captain had a career year. He led Yale with a career high 18 goals and 41 points and received the honour as Ivy League Player of the Year.

The 5’10”, 180-pound forward was a standout in the recent 2013 NCAA Frozen Four Championship in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Miller led the Men’s hockey team to their first NCAA National Championship, including scoring the game winning goal in overtime of the Semifinal against the University of Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks. He was also named the 2013 Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA Frozen Four Tournament.
