The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced their players of the week today, with two Michigan connections earning honors from the league. Harrison Township native Bobby Shea was named defenseman of the week, while Wolverines forward Cristoval “Boo” Nieves picked up the rookie of the week award.

Postgame® Offensive Player of the Week

Marc Hagel, MIA

Sr., F (Hamilton, ON)

Hagel had two assists, including one on the game-winning goal, in a 4-1 win over Alaska on Friday. He added three assists, including one on the game winner, in a 6-2 victory on Saturday to complete the sweep of the Nanooks. He also had two blocks and finished a +6 on the weekend.

 

Gladiator® Defenseman of the Week

Bobby Shea, BGSU                      

Sr. (Harrison Township, MI)

Shea had two assists, including one on the game-winning goal, in a 4-1 win over Lake Superior on Friday. He added two assists in a 7-3 victory on Saturday to compete the sweep of  the Lakers. He also had six blocks and finished +4 on the weekend.

 

Warrior® Goaltender of the Week

Brady Hjelle, OSU

Sr. (International Falls, MN)

Hjelle stopped 29 shots in a 6-3 win over Notre Dame on Friday and made a career-high 45 saves and was the Perani Cup first star in a 2-2 tie with the Irish on Saturday.

 

Gongshow® Rookie of the Week

Cristoval Nieves, UM

F (Baldwinsville, NY)

Nieves scored twice, including the game-winning goal, and added an assist in a 3-2 victory over Michigan State on Friday. He had a 1-1-2 scoring line in a 5-2 victory on Saturday to complete a sweep of the Spartans.
