Fans on the east side of Michigan will get a chance to meet the Michigan State Spartans before they play in the Great Lakes Invitational.
On Friday, Dec. 28, MSU will practice at Suburban Ice Macomb from 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., then welcome fans in attendance onto the ice to meet the players and coaches for photos and autographs.
“We’re excited to be able to do this again – we have lots of our local fans who get to take advantage of things like this at Munn Ice Arena. I’m really excited to bring this to another area of the state, and give our fans an opportunity to interact with our players and coaches,” said MSU coach Tom Anastos in a release. “We did this in October in Cheboygan, and had a fantastic turnout. The people in our program got to meet some really great, wonderful, supportive fans, and our players had a blast. I’m really looking forward to doing this in the metro Detroit area – we have had wonderful fan support when we play at Joe Louis Arena, and it will be nice to connect with those who support us.”
The meet-and-greet will take place from 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The whole day is free to the public. Please note that it is not a skating event – the ice will not be resurfaced after the Spartans practice, so it will provide for a rough surface suitable for walking on in regular shoes.
Michigan State takes on Western Michigan the next day (Dec. 29) at Joe Louis Arena for the first game of the Great Lakes Invitational. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:35 p.m.
