It’s finally Friday, which means a big weekend of hockey is here.
Quick hits
Hockeytown takes on the State of Hockey tonight, as the Red Wings host the Wild. We’ll be there to bring you all of the action. The Wings will be without captain Nicklas Lidstrom. The game will also mark Ken Daniels’ 1,000th as the TV play-by-play man for the Winged Wheel.
The first round of the CCHA playoffs begins, and two Michigan teams are hosting games in the opening weekend. The Lake State Lakers welcome Alaska to their building, while Bowling Green has traveled up to Northern Michigan. Notre Dame and Ohio State clash in the one series without a Michigan team. Get ready for the weekend with our playoff preview.
In other college hockey news, MSU’s Torey Krug was named the RBC Financial Group CCHA Player of the Month. Western Michigan goaltender Frank Slubowski was named the Gongshow Rookie of the Month by the league, as well.
