Shaved Ice – Jan. 24

If you’re on the ice with Brad Stuart, I suggest you keep your head up.

Quick hits

Can’t say that one at the Joe last night wasn’t exciting. Hits, goals, fights, Jimmy Howard trying to get into the mix again…last night’s Red Wings game had it all. Here’s my recap of it, by the way. Pavel Datsyuk, Johan Franzen and Niklas Kronwall scored for the Wings, while Stuart changed the momentum of the game late in the first period with a huge hit on Alex Pietrangelo that led to a fight with Chris Stewart. Wings score on the ensuing power play (in the second period), and from that point on, they controlled the contest.

Highlight reel

Outside the Mitten

Jeff Petry keeps playing well for the Edmonton Oilers. This morning, he’s our Michi-gamer honoree.

Ovi just got a three-game Shanaban. He probably shouldn’t have jumped and hit a guy in the head…but that’s just my opinion.

Tim Thomas declined his invite to the White House.

Ken Dryden is trying to put an end to concussions.

If the weather allows, I’m off to the USHL Top Prospects game in Muskegon tonight. Fingers crossed…
