Another hockey-filled weekend is inching towards us, and there’s nothing better than that, right?
Quick hits
The Red Wings welcome the Calgary Flames to the Joe tonight, hoping that they will be able to solve their scoring woes and end their losing streak at five. Detroit has five goals in their last five games.
Detroit will be playing without Gustav Nyquist, who was sent back to Grand Rapids. The first-year pro was called up for Tuesday night’s game in hopes of adding a spark to the Wings’ offense, but his NHL debut was short-lived.
Two Wolverines were honored by the CCHA this week after helping Michigan to a 6-1-1 record to start the season.
Highlight reel
Here’s something to get your blood pumping this morning.
Outside the Mitten
It has been a rocky start to the season for former Spartan Ryan Miller. The Buffalo Sabres goaltender, one of the best in the game, has yet to win a game on home ice. He was pulled 6:32 into his game against Philadelphia last night.
Scott Burnside and Pierre LeBrun of ESPN weigh in on the late-game benching of Alex Ovechkin from Tuesday night, which is still a hot topic two days later.
