Shaved Ice – Nov. 22

Only two more days ’til turkey…can’t wait.

Quick hits

In case you were living under a rock yesterday (read: in case you don’t use any sort of technology…wait, then how are you reading this?) Sidney Crosby returned from a 10-month absence to play an NHL game for the first time since suffering a concussion. And as I’m sure you already know, he didn’t really struggle in his first game back – he scored on his third shift, and ended the night with two goals and two helpers.

I know he is a polarizing figure in these parts. But everyone should appreciate what he does for the game we all love. If you’re reading this, you probably don’t need that one superstar to change your perspective on the game. But the NHL – and hockey in general – needs a person who can captivate the general, non-hockey-playing population, and Crosby does just that. There might not be any other player in the world right now that would command that much attention in SportsCenter – it was certainly the most hockey talk I had heard this season following Monday Night Football.

He’s at the center of an ever-growing rivalry between Detroit and Pittsburgh. But for all parties concerned; be glad that he’s back. Sidney Crosby is very important to our game.

Highlight reel

We were talking about the movie Miracle in the office yesterday, which obviously would lead to me putting this video in the ‘highlight reel’ this morning.

Outside the Mitten

Well since I kind of already wrote the ‘Outside the Mitten’ part in the beginning of the blog today, how about another video? A rogue red balloon during Phoenix/Washington game? Sure, why not.

Check it out
