Good morning, everyone.
A few weeks ago, we published a short article about how the Red Army youth team from Russia stopped by to play against Honeybaked. They aren’t the only team to cross the pond to play against teams from the Mitten. On Sunday, the ’97 Suburban Stars took on Druzhba ‘78, a Ukrainian team touring the country after participating in the Bauer Invitational in Chicago. The Stars’ families hosted members of the visiting team, turning the weekend into not only a hockey experience, but a cultural experience as well. I recommend checking out the article.
Here are this week’s top performers in the NAHL and CCHA – with plenty of Michigan names involved.
Highlight reel
Mark Howe was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame last night. During his acceptance speech, he took the time to honor his famous father – Mr. Hockey.
A great moment for a great family.
Outside the Mitten
Here’s a recap of all the events at the Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night from NHL.com.
Milan Lucic will not be suspended for his hit on East Lansing native and Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller over the weekend.
And in the hockey celebrity gossip column, many sites are reporting that Rangers center Brad Richards is dating actress/model Olivia Munn. I just thought it was worth mentioning…
Check it out
Darren Eliot (hey, I know him) weighs in on the Lucic hit on Miller. Read what the former NHL goaltender has to say on the subject.
