Welcome back to the work week, everybody. Hopefully you enjoyed your weekend full of hockey – I know I did.
Quick hits
The Red Wings had back-to-back home games Friday and Saturday night for the first time in…well, a while. On Friday, they posted a 3-0 shutout over Edmonton, with Drew Miller winning the battle of the Spartans. On Saturday, the Wings’ defensemen led the charge in a 5-2 win over Dallas.
Here’s MiHockeyNow’s round-up of the weekend’s college hockey action.
In their three games this weekend, the Whalers scored 23 goals. I’m serious – 23 goals. Friday they posted eight in Guelph, Saturday they posted eight at home against Sault Ste. Marie, and then on Sunday, they only managed seven at home against Erie.
The Spirit fared a little differently than their OHL counterparts in Plymouth this weekend. Saginaw lost all three of their games – 6-5 at Ottawa, 4-3 at Belleville, and 5-3 at Kingston.

Outside the Mitten
Boston’s Milan Lucic will have a hearing with the NHL today after the hit he put on East Lansing native Ryan Miller Saturday night. The former Spartan suffered a concussion when Lucic collided with him on a race to the puck and appeared to follow through on his check as if Miller were a player and not a goalie.
