A pair of Michigan natives appear on the latest edition of the NAHL stars of the week list.

Grand Rapids native Theo Thrun and Livonia native Jordan Venegoni both earned recognition from their junior league after outstanding performances for their respective NAHL clubs.

Thrun, a Fox Motors product, posted back-to-back game-winners for his Kenai River Brown Bears in a weekend sweep. Despite being a NAHL rookie, he’s leading his team in scoring with 20 points in his first 17 games.

“Theo played very well for us this past weekend and has played well all season,” said Brown Bears Head Coach Kevin Murdock. “Theo’s consistency and daily work ethic is really paying off for him. He has a knack for putting himself in a position to score goals and it’s great to see him rewarded for his efforts.”

Venegoni, a former standout forward for Livonia Churchill, helped his Amarillo Bulls to a weekend sweep of the Corpus Christi IceRays with two straight games of registering a goal and an assist. He is second on his team in scoring with 12 points in 16 games during his second full season of NAHL play.

“Jordan has been excellent for us this season,” said Bulls head coach Rocky Russo. “After playing in a supporting role last season, he has taken a big step and now is a leader both on the ice and in the locker room for us. He impacts the game in all situations and has a knack for scoring big goals. This weekend he showed he can be a force offensively, while still making his defensive obligations a priority. I think he just scratching the surface of what he is capable of.”
