The Grand Rapids Griffins are mining some talent cultivated in their home state.
Today, the Griffins announced that they have signed Saginaw Spirit defenseman Marcus Crawford to a two-year contract beginning in the 2018-19 season.
Crawford also signed an amateur tryout agreement so he can spend the rest of the 2017-18 season with Grand Rapids.
A native of Ajax, Ontario, Crawford has spent four seasons with the OHL franchise. The 21-year-old blueliner recorded 149 points in 252 games.
