The Red Wings have locked up one of their restricted free agents, the team announced.
Detroit has re-signed defenseman Xavier Ouellet to a two-year contract. The cap hit, per Capfriendly, is for $1.25 million per season.
The 23-year-old blue liner played in 66 games last season for the Wings, recording 12 points and a +2 rating. Ouellet also racked up 51 penalty minutes.
Originally a second-round pick of Detroit in 2011, the native of Bayonne, France, has played in 96 career NHL games, logging a total of five points and 11 assists for 16 points and a +4 rating.
The other restricted free agents the Red Wings need to make decisions on/re-sign include Andreas Athanasiou, Tomas Tatar, Martin Frk and Robbie Russo.
